I have an old cow I bought at a sale barn she looked good at the time cause she was preg she had a beautiful bull 100+ bull calf so far so good but she is a little hump back and you can definitely tell her age she eats good , good mama but old how many of you would sell her or breed her back and sell her or breed her and hope to get another good calf?

As long as she breeds, raises a good calf, breeds back, and can keep her condition through the winter, keep her. When her production drops off, she is open, or simply can't keep her condition any longer, then sell her.

Wood, I have 2 thirteen year old cows. One calved in Oct '07 and is bred back..the other calved about 2 weeks ago and I guarantee you she'll cycle in another couple of weeks and breed on the first insemination. Good body condition, good teeth and feet and raise good calves. Wouldn't think of getting rid of them at this time. Next year may be a diff. story.
