We had three HEIFERS
born the past three days! The second one born on Saturday was backwards & upside down. My husband flipped it over & we hand pulled it backwards. She was a little more tired than the others, but sucked mom & was outdoors next day. All three were Macho heifers.
Have a cow that we bought was due on the 29th, nothing yet, so we induced her last night because we are leaving on the 5th to go to KILE, Harrisburg, Pa show. Hate to induce, but don't have anyone to check while we're gone (well noone that I would want to calf out a problem).
Inducing usually makes them retain placenta - which in turn makes it longer to recycle, but calving this time of year, I don't care if it takes her longer.
Just makes me nervous, hate interfering with "mother nature".
