I have a pile of cabbage in the garden and have been looking at ways to use it. Saw a recipe a while back that stayed in my mind and I tweeked it a bit using what I had on hands and ended up making this dish which brings a whole new dimension to cabbage.

Started out with peppers, onions, garlic, italian sausage, mozzarella cheese, tomatoes and tomato paste, some mushrooms and parmesean cheese.

I browned the italian sausage good then added an onion chopped up good and cooked it till it caramlized good then added 4 diced heads of garlic and cooked till they browned. I then added 5 diced mushrooms and cooked them till tender. I then turned down the heat a little and added a head of cabbage, a sprinkling of dill seed, 1/2 tsp of salt, tsp of pepper, a tablespoon of lemon pepper.

I then added a cup or two of chopped tomato, 4 tbs of tomato paste, and mixed this around real good then added three bell peppers chopped and cooked till they sweated good then turned off the heat.

From there, I put a layer of this in a casserole dish and topped with mozzarella cheese, then another layer and cheese then another and on the last I gave it a good sprinkling of parmesan for good measure.

From there into the oven to warm through at 350F for 30 minutes then finished on broil to brown the top.

From there onto the plate and while I don't know what you might call this recipe its pretty darn good and after 3 helpings I'd eat some more but my stomach just won't allow it.

LOL My cabbages are still there they didnt bust surprisingly but the snow did a job on everything else. I have around 40 cabbages left that are about the size of a baseball that I planted a lil later and I only have about 6 cabbages that are ready to eat anytime.

Jo. How do you like your Santoku knife. That's about all we use anymore!

I like it. Didn't know that's what it was called. Its real handy on veggies and stuff. I had it razor sharp for that and it cut like a dream. I have three knives that I use a lot. Fella came by the other day and was passing the time and I noticed he was using my best knife to chip paint. I think you can imagine how I felt when I saw my most favorite knife being used for something like this. This is a knife that each time I caress it across the steel I can envision the sad day when I'll have nothing but a walnut handle. I keep it so sharp it can almost cut by will so you can just imagine my shock.
