thoughts on renting a bull

Hey Guys,

We are going to AI about 30 Hiefers and cows here in a couple days. We are also going to be renting a SAV Bismark son. My question is what are your thoughts on renting bulls? How long would you wait to put the bull in with them?

If you know the bull your renting its a good thing if you only have 1 breeding season. If the bull is leased out alot to other folks it could be disaster he could introduce things to your herd you dont want. Put him in 15 days after AI if you want to know AI from natural if it doesnt matter then maybe a little sooner. If you sync your cattle you may want to go for a second heat put a patch on them at day 17 observe heat it will be the cheapest you do if you sync with cidrs.

my first thought would be disease if the bull works more cows than just yours

Is he a Virgin bull ,or has he at least been Trich tested if he is not?

All things being equal I would wait a week and turn him in with the heifers!
