today i go out to check my cattle and i notice a brand new calf.he was off by himself so i wasnt sure who he belonged too, well i get out of the truck and then the cows came over and he runs up to a holstein x cow and starts nursing.the funny thing is this calf looks 100% piedmontese and there are 2 heavy bred pied cows in that pasture but neither looked as if they had just calved but neither did the holstein x.the holstein was bred to a pied bull but i would never think u would get a pied looking calf out of a holstein cow.i mean this calf looks all pied.the holstein is not the kind of cow that just lets anyone nurse her so i guess it must be her baby because no one else seemed to be claiming it.calf seems fine and was running around.i was out there yesterday and did notice the holstein bagged real tight and some discharge so surely its her calf.i just cant believe that i would get a calf that looks all pied out fo a holstein x cow.she is 3/4 holstein and 1/4 angus so i figured to get a mostly black calf.all my saler cattle that were bred to pied bull had solid black or red calves.what do u all think?

Could do a parentage test and find out for sure, but strange things happen all the time! ;-) Does the calf have black tail switch? Black skin?

I have bazadais not piedmontese and I was told that our first cross calves would not go grey like the bazadais do. They wouldn't do that until heifers are bred back to another bazadais bull.

But lo and behold a few of our herd look like bazadais out of non bazadais cows.
