This is a real inquiry, about hog hunting . . .

OK. This is not a question I'm posting to get BS responses about. My hubby is a good shot, and loves to hunt, and has celebrated his 70th BD. He was saving pennies when he was 10 in Missouri to buy .22 ammo and shotgun shells, while others were saving money to go to the soda shop. I wish we had a Cabellas closer to us -- he could teach the people in the "vault" so much about the old guns they have there, and could teach almost anyone interested a thing or two about American History. He is a people person and a Vietnam era vet (he didn't have "rank" to go to 'Nam then, when it was advisory; he served in Germany), but definitely right-sided on politics. He doesn't like crowds. And he' s meat and potatoes guy that enjoys a good beer. He still says "Yes, sir" and "No, Ma'am." He prays every day . He's bagged lots of deer; not an elk yet. And he's always wanted to hunt pigs.

I'd like to send him out to someone I know here to hunt a pig. Not big $$ in this -- I can send him; pay his expenses to get there; pay some for you providing that experience and housing/feeding him if you have that opportunity available next year. Please private message me. Like I said, nobody needs to tear this post apart. Thank you, CTB people. :)

Hog Hunting is a great experience and he would love that. I have to travel to hog hunt here to the east portion of the state and its a lottery hunt.

I think there are Texas, other Southern states, OK, maybe CA ??? states, where they are just vermin. But I'm not sure about that, or regs, etc. Will not sent him anywhere where he bends the rules.

He would be welcome here at no charge. But we have very very few of the hogs, thank goodness. I have found a little sign but have not seen one in a couple years.

Thx, Kenny. I'm talking to Hook. Hook might be a possible.

Tx, Ar, Ga, Fl have lots. We have them on three sides now but thank goodness none on the farm but he would be welcome if we did. All it would cost you is to get him here. Sorry I can't help but I bet someone on here can.

I think there will be some help here, Jed. Thx. :) This would be a HUGE thing for hubby. I appreciate all input.

Unless you got land in Cali then you have to pay for guided hunt, nor cal and cen cal is good, I know. Good guy in hollister. I can't afford the hunts though. Hog problem must not be bad in Cali like other states lol

a friend's husband killed this 205 lb Piney Wood rooter yesterday. Lots of hogs in Texas.

No hogs over here except the ones in pens. But beleive me you really don't want to live close to Cabela's. There is one 30 miles from me. Pretty interesting when they first arrived. But Sportsman's Warehouse just across the freeway has better quality, lower prices, more knowledgable staff, and you don't have to fight the crowd.

Cabellas never impressed me bps and gander have much better selection and pricing and usually quality

I've promised my future son-in-law if my daughter ever decides to marry him, I will take him to tx. to shoot hogs with a AK47 out of a heilcopter. It cost 1500 per day. Man, that's gptta' be the most fun there ever was. gs

Kathie, buy him a ticket to Australia and we would soon get him sorted on the pigs.
Ken
Heck, I'd buy ME a ticket to Australia, with or without pigs, if that was in the budget. He'd just have to settle for neighborhood venison! :)

Kathie,
If you can't get anyhing else lined up let me know and I can at least give him a chance at a hog. The tough part is timing his visit with weather that's dry enough to drive up the the ranch but still wet enough to have lots of hogs and me having time to take him.
Here they're hit and miss. I can go for months and not see one and then all of a sudden they're EVERYWHERE. I don't allow hunters usually because of the problems that come with extra people and the fact that we have to cross a neighbors property and I do have some cows that are NUUUTS but I can give guided tours every now and then for certain people ;-) .
You're a sweetheart for wanting to do that for him. I hope he treats you just as well.
