I have known this guy since 1968. He is 2 months away from 80 years old. Has a BS in biology and chemistry. MS in Biology.

After college he went back to the hills of Kentucky and proceeded to drill his own oil wells creating a small private oil enterprise. He has become a self made millionaire. He heats his home with NG from one of his wells. Most innovative human being I have ever met.

I saw this old double flywheel engine in his barn 45 years ago. Went to see him yesterday. He used a come along to drag it out of the barn. Had to braze teeth on one of the internal gears. Hooked his it to a natural gas tank and got it running. Why? Just because he enjoys repairing things.

He fills his own NG tanks with that engine in front of the flywheel engine using an old milk cooler compressor.
 
There's hope for me yet Ron. That is the sort of thing I was hoping to do in my spare time, got things laying around but just not getting time to get onto it.

There are some clever and practical people out there of which he is obviously one.

He is very clever. If he was the Dictator of the United States of America, we would have a 60 trillion dollar surplus instead of a 20 trillion dollar debt. I have not known a person as frugal as he is. If I did not know better, I would think he was poor.

Probably should not reveal this but I have loved a couple women in my 66 years. The love a man has for a woman is a wonder every man is blessed to experience. But the love of a lifelong friend is magnificent, This man is the best friend I have ever had (except for TT, ;-) ).

The memories he and I created over the years is worth more than all the gold in Ft. Knox.

Yes, TT. He is still in great shape.

He and his wife live near Sandy Hook. That is about hour and a half drive. From Morehead to Sandy Hook, US 32 has to be the crookedest road in the United States.

Maybe I am easily impressed by things he thinks up.

He refills that Natural Gas tank by running the Natural Gas line from the well into the intake breather on that old compressor and hooks the outlet from the compressor into the tank valve. The old milk cooler compressor pumps up the tank with NG until the compressor reaches the limits of the NG pressure in the tank.

He has converted all the engines he operates around the farm, oil field and house to natural gas.
 
He sounds a lot like my friend Neal who passed away this spring.. always puttering around on something, and very creative...
Neal was big into the old flywheel engines, he had an 8hp open crankcase one that must have weighed a half a ton, and dozens of smaller ones. Neal wasn't a wealthy man, but frugal with his purchases and generous with his friends

Another old fellow I knew had a sawmill he co-owned with his brother, When he sold, his share was about 90 million.. It didn't change him at all, he still drove a clapped out old Mazda diesel truck, and built more sawmill equipment from scrap iron.. this was while he was darned near 80... FULL head of silver-white hair.. and again, one of the kindest people I have known
