NEVER watch the Food Network when you are hungry!!!

I do feel sorry for her as she is truely suffering with them.
Told her if she give's me chicken pox at my age this is not going to be funny.
I never had any of the childhood issue's mump's, measles or chicken pox.
She told me chicken pox are a walk in the park to shingles.

The food network would be tough, think I will hit the freezer grill some fish and steak's and seal a meal them like a pack rat.

I just "got over" a case of Shingles. Even after 2 weeks, I still have continuous itching and occasional sharp pain when I touch some spots. Doc put me on a special medication (used for seizures as well as Shingles): Gabapentin 100 mg. Helps a lot, but still have to use a serious anti-itch cream 2X a day. At least with the new Rx I can sleep through the nite without waking up in pain.

P.S.: I would definitely recommend Shingles to my "Enemies"...

CB I sure wish your cook a speedy recovery. It gonna be hard on her to suffer threw the shingles and your cooking. Maybe one of the neighbors will help her out.

Sorry for Mrs. Burno. Everyone I have ever heard who had shingles, not one of them said, "Oh, it wasn't that bad". Everybody described it as very, very painful.

I hope she gets over it quick. Believe it or not I had shingles 4 years ago. At 35. Stress and a weka immune system at the time brought it on. Lasted about 2 weeks.

I got the shingles vaccine last Sept. I think only folks that had chicken pox earlier can get shingles.

I got the shot a year or two ago. It is not full proof, but gives better odds of never getting shingles.
You are right about the chicken pox and I had a rip roaring case when I was a kid.

My wife was seeing an allergist for something else and mentioned that something had just started bothering her and she didn't know what it was.
Allergist knew right away what it was and got on it and got it stopped before it really developed.
I think he was proud of himself for catching it and my wife was truly grateful. So was I.
It was just good fortune that she was already in his office for something else.

Is the shot a one time vaccine? If so we are all crazy if we don't get it.
I have helped take care of 4 people that have had the shingles. One not real bad and the other 3 really never returned to normal. They were all older and it just got them so ran down they never bounced back. Seem their nervious system never recovered either.

Yes the shot is a one time deal. I think my insurance paid for it. It is kind of expensive, maybe $200 or so and that backs a lot of people off.
But I think it is well worth it to reduce the risk of getting that painful condition.
