May the odds be ever in your favour. Ive had one just like him. I named him El Chapo. The day he was born he looked at me once and fled. Took me an entire day to find him.

I think you have a good plan. But I feel bad for whoever buys him on the other end

Had a heifer like that on one of my quietest, calmest cows. Just as nutty as a fruitcake. See you and go the other way even if you weren't getting close. She came in the pen one day with the group when I was graining them some to teach the calves to come in. Took her and the momma to the barn lot, and 2 days later she went on the trailer and the cow came back to the pasture. Have had 2 more perfectly fine calves since.... Don't know what it was, but I'd swear she was part deer instead of bovine......

I had one that would jump in the pond as soon as she saw me. When I approached the pond, she would swim to the other side.
Pretty smart huh?

Made a mistake of walking into the pens with her mother one day. I had to drive 30 miles to get a trailer but it was worth it. She spent the next two nights in it until I could get her to the sale.

I remember one murray grey bull calf i had, could never catch him to get a ring on and as smart as anything i owned. I reckon he could out run a thoroughbred. Couldn't out run a bullet though, about the worst meat i every ate. Dogs got most of it.

well momma been in the pens since yesterday..both of em bawling like crazy..but he wont go near those gates...I got til 5 tonite...then the market closes....dangit..need this pos gone

so I got him in the small pasture..wont go in..goes right to it but not in...so I gave up about 1 am....periodically checking..anways..got the mule out and started running him. after about a half hr he ran into a corner and I rammed him with the mule..missed him with the rope..he broke the corner down and went into the calf pasture..i jumped the fence..he walked right to his momma and stood next to her in the pens..she was on the other side .I shut the gate and hrs later he was on the trlr...man did that feel good....I don't care what he brings even..but he was a stout little fella..hated to ship him but cant have him disrupting the entire herd

Glad you got him out of your herd. You are lucky you can work like that. In my case with having to use a 4 wheeler as a wheelchair, my wife & I both have bad knees and she has to do the hard stuff. I would have had to shoot him and use him for coyote bait. Since we have a Cougar sighted here and I believe I lost a 400lb calf to it 2 months ago, I might have been worth more than at the sale.

""Since we have a Cougar sighted here"""

Uh oh. You ain't in North East TX are you? We do have a resident cougar expert that occasionally posts.
