Last sunday we spent most of the day looking for a young bull that had just up and disapeared. Finally we had to give up. But, off and on my boss and I would go looking a little more. We had given up hope, but we decided friday that we would go looking in some of the sink holes that we hadn't got to yet.

We looked in almost all the sink holes. I walked over to one right by the draw, and there he was in about an eight foot hole. The amazing thing is that he was alive. There was kind of a petition in front of him where he couldn't get out. So we found a tee-post, and used it to dig a spot big enough for him to walk out of.

We took him back up to the house, put him in the corrals, let him drink some water and eat some hay. But I think that was one hell of a will to live.

There are some tough cattle out there. A friend lost a calf only a few days old. They looked and looked. Finally, they remembered an old well on the place. It was almost covered up, only a small opening, but sure enough that calf had somehow fallen into it, about an 8 foot drop. They were able to get a rope down around him and lift him out. The opening was so small, they had to work to fit him through! Momma came and claimed him and the last I heard he was doing fine.

Sometimes it seems that cows / calves are just looking for a place to lay down and die. I know a lot of y'all have been having a rough winter this year. But every once in awhile you hear about an animal like this, and it makes you realize they are a lot tougher than you think!
