While I'm sittin here recoverin from my injury, I happened to turn the TV dial to that movie, "Three Amigos". The scene I was watching was where they were in this mexican bar and just ordered tequila. After they drank, the movements they made had me rollin on the floor. Been there. Oh yeah, my question.

Is there a surefire way that you can tell just by lookin cow, you know they need to be wormed?

Thanks for any responses.

My fav. scene is probably the talking bush....

...as for the worming, if you just look at a cow that you have never looked at before you can "assume" with a lower body condition score that she needs to be wormed but if the BCS of the cow has gotten worst as you have been watching them then it would be my first action to worm, not sure if that helps or not, trying to type and dig up that old 3 amigos movie now!

If you can see(unless you are using a Famancha system) they need worming- you waited too long.
Or if its a new animal- you should worm it first off "just in case" even if it looks good(or get a fecal done).the stress of moving can trigger problems.

So going by looks is useless-- but symptoms

dull coat
unthrifty
hacking cough
loose

best time to worm them is when they still in good health and look fine . its alot cheaper to keep one healthy then to bring em back out. dull hair coat, not shedding, loose stoole but like was said other things can make them look this way too

Skinny with no reason for them to be. If it's real bad they will have diarehea (sp). And if they're really bad thet will be stumbling, lethargic with all of the other symptoms. By this time the cure will probably kill them.

Worming is something best done as a preventive rather than after the fact. And I know I will probably catch a lot of flack here but I seem to have better luck with injectables rather than pour on.

Good Luck.

We have, too, Earl.
