I have seen cattle chase many things dogs, coyotes, kids, skunks, you name it.... But I have never seen cattle chasing a cottontail rabbit until recently. I had notice outside my glass door the replacement heifers were running, bucking, and just all over the place in the paddock or heifer lot. I went out to see what in the world they were doing and sure enough the three heifers were chasing a little bity rabbit. They finally chased it up through the lot and under the fence. Then they came back to this end wanting cubes, feed or some type of treat, I guess to replace the energy they burnt chasing that little thing. I might shoot me a rabbit, but it was good entertainment.

A few years ago I had noticed my whole herd in an uproar. They started out in one field, circling, hopping, bucking and snorting. Next thing I know here they come, thundering through that field, through the gates into the next field.........chasing a Groundhog!! I don't think I've ever seen a Groundhog run so fast! It managed to ge away and dukc under the next gate, which was closed. I was almost afraid the cows would crash the gate going after that thing. :lol2: :lol2:

That gave me a good laugh that day.

Had a whole herd chased a huge black bear. He was desperately looking for a tree to climbing up. He finally found a small birch tree and stay there for the rest of day.

Ours chase anything that isn;t us or another cow. Goofiest things I saw was when they chased a walmart bag blowing across the pasture, they also run down the small helium party ballons (the mylar kind).
