I'm back. What a bl@@dy day yesterday... got woken early with a phone call from mum to say there was something wrong with her old horse (34years!). Anyway, while I was getting sorted to go home, she called up our neighbour (who's a vet) to come have a look at him. Turned out the poor old b@stard had a lump of what we think was grass stuck in his pharynx. The poor old guy has hardly any teeth left and has been handfed for the last 5 years which is the only reason he's still going. The only way we could have possibly got it out was to operate, and even that was a slim chance. Putting any fluids down there would have drowned him as it would have gone straight to his lungs. Anyway, mum called back in an absolute mess to get me to go home to do the deed. So long story short, I had to go home and help put down old Arrow, who's been in the family longer than I have (mum got him when she was about 13). What a day! Then I went to get my pregnant mare to keep the other pony company, and she was starting to bag up. So now, I'm waiting on this foal to FINALLY come. Whew! I'm stuffed!! In answer to Bek, I think I may have one or two shows down the SE, not quite sure though. I'm heading down on Monday to break in the bulls and it would be good to get at least half of them to a few shows. Other than that, I don't have any more til March next year. I'm still gonna have a busy summer ahead of me though!!
