Red Angus v. Black Angus? Which is better? If you think either is better than the other. Have at it. Just trying to get opinions...and expand my knowledge. ;-)

i didnt vote b/c i dont think one is better than the other. if i was getting into the registered angus business i would go with red b/c there are less and they are gaining more in popularity, less competition. in general i like the looks of blacks better. but as far as quality they are the same to me.

Peas in a pod with only a colour gene separating them.

No vote from me.

Bez!

Kind of like choosing between "Bud Light" or "Miller Light".

They'll both get you where you are going! ;-)

Where? To the bathroom to Pee. Gonna drink beer, drink beer; not some fake wannabe that taste like cold left over dishwater.

Every where else in the world reds and blacks are in the same herd book. So you need to ask yourself this: Why would anybody limit themselves by breeding blacks which limits yourself in the gene pool? You can breed reds and use both red and black gene pools which allows you many more animals to choose from. The Red Angus Association of America allows the use of black bulls which is still a 1-A (100%) angus, Category 2 (color difference but can't be shown). This is one of the many reasons we chose Red Angus. In an AI situation, you can AI with black bulls, turn out the reds with a red bull, and you'll know the parentage of the calves.

jaydill, either breed can lead you to the promised land. I love 'em both. LA- you've left me begging to know your preference in beer. PM me if you'd like, but I suspect others would also like to know.

As far as total cattle registered in America the blacks far ounumber the reds. If i am wrong tell me were you get your numbers.

As Scotty said, the blacks far outnumber the reds and therefore offer a much expanded base of genetics, and that is what separates red from black.

It sure aint bud light or any other light beer.
Start with Shiner Bock from Shiner Texas and Ice House owned by Miller Brewing. IMO There is no Budweiser that is worth opening.

Shiner is great. I go for the Coors and Coors light. I like Gueness also on the rare occasion.
