I went as a chaparone on a ski trip yesterday.
I have trouble with my left knee due to some hard skiing I did when I was younger and dumber.
So the ski resort has this new thing called a snow bike.
It is like a bike but has a ski on the front and on the back under the seat. You have little ski's on your feet. You don't use your feet except for keeping your balance when needed.

It was a blast!

took a little time, but got the hang of it after a couple of Oh Crud moments.
No I didn't crash, but my instructor and I thought I was.

sorry nobody got pictures, at least nobody that is admitting to it. :lol2:

That sounds a lot like the unit folks with disabilities use to ski with around here.

Maybe you were using your feet to much or at the wrong times and he didn't articulate that well enough.

I have never been on such a contraption. But based on experiences of riding horses flying airplanes and such, I would say listen carefully to the "qualified" and maybe "certified" instructors.
Only problem is that one instructor will tell you one thing, another will tell you something different.
In the final outcome, it is often best just to do what works best for you.
 
All instructors at the resort are now required to know how to teach the snow bike.
My instructor had only just learned too. The week end before.
The guy who has been doing it for the last couple of years was teaching a snow boarding class.

He did pass us and make a couple of suggestions which helped.

The biggest problem was hitting bumps that got me off balance.
