After 5 years with a few drought years, I'm happy to report I finally found my ideal hay supplier- someone like me, same values. He'll be rewarded paid handsomely for both his last years hay and new hay. I'm going to make his life nice taking 80 bales this year and paying him more than his asking price. It's a treasure to have a good hay supplier that needs and appreciates you and much as i need and appreciate them.
I know I was a new cattleman seeking hay, but I was treated cold, invisible, unfair, small peanut buyer, hardly any courtesy to come out or load me promptly, no relationships were ever built, until now. I've come to realize there's probably was an unspoken war between buyers and sellers of hay long before I arrived on the scene.
I probably place I higher degree of importance on relationships than others do. Who knows if that's a good or bad thing. I just run with who and how I am. ..and yes, there's a small degree of vindictive-vindication in my heart hoping my former hay suppliers see all that hay in my fields. I gave them so many opportunities and tried hard to build that relationship with them.
