Hello everyone this is my first posting. I read in your new members section that there is no advertising. I would like say ahead of time that I am not advertsing anything because I will not be saying the name of the company or any contact info. I'm just doing research for my work, and a forum like this is the best unbiased source.
I need some info on the current state of the hay market down in Texas/Oklahoma. Our customer's have surplus of hay to sell up north. I need to find out if it's economically viable for farmers in Texas/Oklahoma to purchase hay from say somewhere like Wisconsin. I've put in some numbers in hay freight calculators like the one at noble.org starting from Wisconsin to Austin, Tx and get some pretty outrageous numbers. However I've also heard reports (unconfirmed) that some hay is already arriving from Canada??
My first question is how much are Farmers in drought area's paying for their different types/sizes of Hay right now($low-$high range)?
My second question is would farmers in the drought areas be interested in some of these examples with shipping not included in prices.
1.) 100 4x6 Rd Bales Hay $35.00 per bale 2011 crop,grass & mixed hay, seller can load Zipcode 54701
2.) 100 Big Square Baled Hay 3rd crop $60/bale Early cut not rained on! Always shedded will load Zipcode 54701
3.) 100 Big Square Bales 950lbs 3rd crop hay. $35/bale Early cut got rained on once. Relative feed value is 100 Zipcode 54701
4.) 100 Big Round Bales 950lbs 1st crop hay. NEVER RAINED ON! Relative feed value 140 Zipcode 54701

We'd like to help the farmers in drought but if the shipping kills their wallet and they wouldn't be interested anyways it would be a waste of time, money and other resources on our part. Any input is greatly appreciated, thanks for your time and advice in advance!
