How much Lut do you give a heifer to terminate preg? (800 lb)

Was thinking it was 5 ML for A.I. but is that enough for aborting?

Since inducing a heat and aborting are the same basic process, I would think that the doage would be the same. All you're doing is affecting the CL not the pregnancy directly.

If you really want to ensure termination I would also give a shot of dexamethasone.I think it 10-12cc,s but not sure so just follow the label.
I just checked my bottle and it doesn't say on it so ask your vet.

It's 5mL regardless of the size, age, or what you're attempting to accomplish (heat cycle or abortion).

Aplus, keep in mind that Lute has two actions--

1) regression of the CL
2) smooth muscle contractions (uterus)

If the pregnancy is much over 60 days it is best NOT to give Lute. If you're set on a terminating a long-term pregnancy, then Dex or estrogen and oxytocin is an option. Lute given to a 2nd or 3rd trimester pregnancy may result in the CL regressing over a period of several days, but the immediate action is the uterus contracting... putting a large fetus through an undilated cervix is a recipe for disaster, or at least the cow not breeding back.
