Back in May I posted that I bought myself a TWH mare for trail riding. I promised to post a pic but forgot. Well here it is. She is 8 years old and a little over 16 hands tall. She is now 7 months bred to a gaited leopard appalossa stud. She is so laid back and friendly you can do just about anything to her and she doesn't care. She rides well, smooth gait and has many mountain trail ride hours on her. She is a pretty good looker in my book.

Nice looking mare, Hoss! For lack of a better description would she be called a "Sooty Black"? We have a black TWH mare who goes from real black in winter to the "dirty" type black in the summer. She is currently 2 mos in foal to our latest TWH Stallion, "Dusty's Royal Flush".

Her current colt on the ground now is a Palomino (sire was a Palomino, "Santa Fe Sunrise" (now deceased) ). The colt at 2.5 months old weighed 339# and 11.2 HH!! We're going to measure him monthly now. Can't believe how fast & big he is getting at this age!

RAB, She is solid black in the winter. It almost looks like the chocolate color is created by a reddish tinge to the hair ends possibly from sunlight. I am not sure. I am excited to see the results of the foal. She had one from the same stud about 2 years ago. It was on the premises when I bought her. It was black with snow flake markings on it's rump. I hope this next one is a repeat. They sell for top dollar (walkaloosas) around here.
