Having this parked in your yard for a day while the right of way clearence crew is on another job, and you have a key in your pocket to fit it.

I have to keep telling myself that they would notice that the two acres of brush that was there yesterday is gone. :D

I know what you mean. sometimes our right away crew parks their mowers next to my property. I could mow a couple of pastures in a hurry with the 15' bat wing mowers.

Power company's contractor is working right now cutting limbs off pine and oak trees that are close to the big line. Got a tracked vehicle with that long boom and a sawblade on the end of it as well as a Browns tree cutter on a NH tractor. Left 'em parked here overnight too, but I don't think I want to risk having to buy one of them either. I was sure glad when that trimmer quit for the day yesterday tho---that dang "WHINNNNNNING" was getting on my nerves. That blade and boom is a thing of destruction tho.

with my luck it would throw a tread

Exactly what I was thinking.. something bad go wrong and end up having to pay for it all.
man here works for the power co. and drove the hydro ax ,was working a line with it. a friend got him to clean up a area for him nearby.. caught fire and burned right on his property. he got to keep his job with the coop though.. but now has the shtty part of pulling meters

Oh, you are right. That is Temptation. I was surprised when I found out that there is only one KEY to all Caterpillars. I am thinking, that makes it easy for work crews but makes for terrible security.

Some years back neighbor down the road had the same idea about the county maintainer to fix his driveway.
He showed up at the house and wanted to borrow my big Massey said he had a piece of equipment stuck.
I ask what he had stuck my reply is you are absolutely nut's. It wasn't pretty when the county crew and the sheriff showed up.

So are every kind of tractor and construction equipment I know of. I have both deere keys (they changed in the mid 90's), Cat and Katamsu in my pocket.

yep, i still have a ring full of differnt keys from when I worked for a local Kubota dealership and some more from when I worked for WW Williams, a Komatsu dealer and shop in Memphis.

Um, the forestry guys left a skidder armed with a water cannon with a 1000 gallon tank with a foaming agent parked on my place one night. Hiding the keys behind the bandages in the first aid kit proved too tempting for someone who had had his fill of sour mash. Had there been any neighbors close by the sound of that Detroit engine would have surely raised some eyebrows and their eyes would have been wide open when they saw what that cool cannon could do. I know your plight! :lol2:
