teasing the switch.

i really want to tease the switch on my heifer for our first show.
but my ag. teacher advises against it.
how do you guys feel about teased switches?

it really depends on the show. I don't mind it either way on my calves or when I judge a show but some do. Just hold off on it until the last and if everyone else does it you should be safe. I'm not advising you to follow the crowd, just use it as a guage on whether or not you want to. Have you asked your advisor for a specific reason?

he says its a hassle, and i dont think he really likes the way it looks.

well it shouldn't affect your placing so I would say do it if you want, but I personally don't...just personal preference.

When my sons were in 4-H through the 80's and early 90's, most all the 4-H and FFA kids balled the tails at our county fair. I haven't seen one done like that here in the past 10 years or so. They say it's just too much trouble. If they do anything, they just cut it off!

we tease the tail slightly, you want to fluff a little but not like a wrecking ball. The more natural the tail looks the better.
