Tank question

The tank thread reminded me, I cracked the paint off a section of my nitrogen tank. Thought I heard at one point that losing the paint was a bad thing. Is that true, not true? or is it something where the problem is the sun on the exposed metal and if you keep it out of the light, it'll be okay?

Not a big deal. Mine all have cracks and my main tank has the paint completely worn off.
It will effect holding time but only minimally. If you want to increase holding time wrap the outside of the tank with carpet or spray it with truck bed liner.
