This may have been brought up before, but I'm too lazy to look it up.
What do ya'll recomend for the best float valve for a water tank.Installed 2 Trough-O- Matic's. Both of them quit shutting off the water.Looks as if something ate the plastic piece where the rubber meets it to shut off the water. Only lasted about three weeks. Only cost $12 dollars and have a 5yr warentee, but you have to seend $5 dollars and cost about $2 or $3 dollars to mail it back. Don't hardly seem worth the time to me.

I use the Little Giant floats. They come in both metal or plastic. The newest one is 5 years old have no idea about the older ones since I got them used 7-8 years ago.

Pretty much anything but Hudson. They seldom work, and Hudson don't seem to care if they do or not.

I use Little Giants now.

The metal Little Giants are my favorite. Dare makes one that is pretty much a carbon copy. Both work well, but not at 5 degrees F.

Hudsons are ok - especially if you need a lot of flow, but you better have a clean supply and pipes, because the tiniest speck will cause them to leak. the good side is they leak kind of slow so if you are alert you will catch it - other floats that break will drain your storage FAST.

The little giants are cheap and fool proof - love 'em exept if you need huge volumes - they are slow.

The old fashioned brass valves with a float attched are probably the best IF you have them well protected from bumps or playful horses. Even better is to have a seperate float box at the same level at the trough and just have a fill pipe to the trough.

Cal,...I have the same floats that you have. I have not had a problem. We have a constant water pressure of 60 psi. I check them daily. I'm waiting for them to freeze and start leaking. Good luck.

Guess I narrowed it down to freezing and busting. Will probably buy 2 more when warmer weather gets here.Shut water off and moved cows to a pasture with 2 large ponds on it.
Thanks everyone for your replys.
