I must be a really good pall bearer. 6th time I have been honored this year.

Boss at work is probably wondering.

When I was in my early 20's an elderly gentleman passed away, that went to church with us. He had a neat funeral, if there is such a thing. he had some request. He wanted buried in bib overalls, and a few thiings like that. He also wanted 3 young men, and 3 old men to be his bearers. I was on the side with 2 very elderly gentleman. It had rained the night before, and we just couldn't get very close to where he wanted buried. I actually thought i was going to have to request a break as we headed from the hurse to the grave. I thought my arm would fall off, before we got there. I swear the other two leaned on the casket all the way to the grave.

backhoe you either look REALLY good in a suit, or you have some really old friends. :D

No joke though, it should be an honor for you to be asked..........It means that you meant a lot to them. Sorry for your losses. :(

Bigfoot the fact that he requested that there be 3 young bucks carrying with the 3 older ones means that he had been a pall bearer himself at one time, and knew it took some young guys to help out!

My uncle was a large man and a huge farmer and when he died in 07 there was the standard 6 and about 6 honorary pall bearers. as is the custom we were supposed to load him in the hearse and the hearse would drive the 200 yards to the cemetery. when we picked up the casket in the foyer to step out side and load him. I had a gut feeling and the emotions over whelmed me and I told the other 5 that he would have been disappointed in everyone of we did not tote him to the grave. The funeral director insisted that we put him in the car. I told him to get out of the way that the man in the casket never backed down from hard work and If it was the last thing I did I would honor him in doing a little hard work toting the casket. the 200 yards seamed like 2 miles some of the alternates stepped in for some but it never turned loose and walked the whole way. no regrets

They are heavier than you think.

I was a bearer for my uncle a couple of years ago who was 6ft 6inches and weighed 350 lbs when he died. We were able to get 8 around the casket but it was still all I wanted to get ahold of with that much help.

Just don't give the boss the same name two or three times.

Very sweet old lady who loved my parents. Small turn out.

A couple of her granddaughters were covered in tramp stamps. They were proud of the too. Everything hanging out. Poor old lady. She would have been embarrassed.

They say they come in 3's (deaths that is). In your case twice. So you're either done for the year or got another 3 to go
