Ok I have decided to switch to Acco. Instead of doing the regular switch routine I thought I might try something diffrent. I thought I might take him off feed for a few days, let his stomach get back to optimun health then slowly introduce acco. What do you think?

I would just start him on Acco. I got a shorty heifer the other day that was on Muenster. I just put her on Acco and she took off.

do you mean stop feeding Hi Pro and switch to acco immediatly? I thought that was bad for their stomach

Never a good idea to make abrupt changes in diet...either type or amount fed.
A better way is to substitute about 20% new in for 20% old the first day, then 40% the second day, and increase 20% until all the way onto the new feed.

This is a good way to do it also, it really just depends on the calf.

Never make an abrupt change, regardless of the calf. You may get away with it some of the time, but it will catch up to you sooner or later.

Keep in mind if you operate on the "depends on the calf" method -- you may not find out that program doesn't work on that particular calf until it's too late.
