Anyone in the Midwest using SweetPro protein tubs? Any complaints about them? :cowboy:

I'm not mid west however we used the "sweet pro" tub from puratone a while back. I prefer the feed rite ones better. There are a range of tubs to suit the needs of the cows. However, they are more costly than adding grain or pellets to balance out a ration. You are paying for convienence with these tubs.
Low moisture is better since the cows do not eat as much at a time. As well, we have learned you need more than one barrel out at a time so that all cows will get some and not just the boss cows.

All the grain in this area comes from Manitoba, so the cost to feed cows would be a minimum of about .10/lb. The blocks I am looking at cost .32/lb. With the increased efficiency SweetPro reports in low-quality feeds and the convenience, I am sure I can swallow the extra .22/day. Have tried out the Agri-Blocks and Feed-Rite tubs in the past. Can't get the blocks here anymore and the tubs are $116 a piece for the 16-AN 200 lb tub. The Sweetpro in the US is $80 for 250 lbs tubs and $70 for the $200 lb tub. :cowboy:
Edit: SweetPro's analysis suggests that one could eliminate additional salt and mineral costs, based on the formulation of the block, which would save .81/lb of added salt and mineral.
