This is 752, one of our "super cows." Weighs about 1150 when she's fat, always breeds at the front of the season, is 10 and has never missed, and her calf always looks like this one. And we aren't weaning until the first part of September. Sure wish they could all be like her! Makes the case for a smaller, more efficient cow.

I saw this and first thought was SUPER cow as in Superman. I was expecting news on a cow that weighs 3000 pounds and weans off a 1000 pound calf in 5 months.

Your scenario is probably better.

Nice!
I have one 5 year old that's been doing really well.. she's probably a smidge bigger (12-1300 lb?) but she had the biggest steer of the whole herd last year, and her heifer this year is definitely in the "big" group.. probably about 450-500 lb @ 5 months... That heifer sucks her dry and beats on that udder, she just stands there and chews cud while the calf nearly lifts her off the ground.

That would be something to see :)

I couldn't find any good pics of that particular cow.. here's a really close relative who's built similarly and who's steer was a couple pounds lighter.. and who posed for the picture better. This was August 21st last year, which put him at 4 days shy of 5 months old

Here's the cow I wanted to find a pic of with last year's calf, she's better than 3/4 sister to the above cow.. The heifer calf by her head in the first pic is another maternal sister
