Not sure why, but around the Waco area this year a choice crop is sunflowers. Haven't seen cotton anywhere yet, corn is 8' tall, wheat and oats being harvested or baled, and these beautiful fields of sunflowers. Nice year with rain and reasonable temperatures.

Sunflowers are a thing here too for the last several years. They have sunflower farm festivals and sell single heads to people... the public finds the darndest things to have to "go to".... Many of the farmers are growing them as the black oil ones for bird food bring pretty good prices, and they have these little festival things to add to the coffers.

Kansas state flower and we generally have a ton. Curious to see how well they do this year because of the drought.

Interesting to see so many sunflowers in TX - all I remember is a gazillion bluebonnets.
We had beautiful bluebonnets and wildflowers this year. Haven't seen any bees though! Maybe there's so many flowers everywhere that they don't need to be so concentrated..rain is an amazing cure for a lot of things

They grow a bunch down south around Alice and that area. I think they can take a little sand and I hear the doves like them.

This has been the biggest year for horse mint (bee balm) for my entire lifetime. It is everywhere this year in this area. beautiful and simply amazing to see the sea of color across so many pastures and up and down the road side.
