Here's my daughter with our cow Sally- Elaine and Sir Loin the back- I though it was cute-Hope you like it!

Very good looking herd and herder. I'm sure the rope your daughter is holding only "appears" to be wrapped around her wrist, and she knows that no matter how gentle a cow or horse may be, sometimes they become spooked and jump away or run off? It would be terrible if ole Sally tried to run off and ended up being choked to death by that rope around her neck just because young daughter couldn't turn loose ;-)

Thank you, Bernard, for saying that- I had already had that conversation with her, but it sure helps to have it reinforced by others!

I probably didn't phrase it as cleverly as you either!! Wouldn't want little Sally to get hurt... :)

well, I would say sally would sure let go fast if it became a real problem, and I can bet money, that cow wont choke to death with such a petite girl hanging on the other end of that rope.......now if my fat butt was attached to tha trope, it would be another story!

Actually, knew a fellow that lost a thumb due to having a rope around his hand and a horse (aka a bag of guts supported by four posts) pulled away from him way too fast before he could let go....................I believe it was just one of many of his accidents before he moved away from here....suspect most of his bad judgement came out of a bottle if ya knows what I mean ;-) :cboy:

anyway.. this is a picture of what rural America should be....great pic and great subjects!

That's a great picture-that's my idea of how kids should grow up. I sure do like to see children out doors and enjoying being there. And by the way, that's a good looking cow and calf. :)

Susie...great looking cattle. I'm glad that other folks noticed the rope around your little girl's wrist, she's to pretty to get an arm broke from a spooked cow...we're waiting for our grand children to get big enough for 4H, have a baldy heifer bred for the oldest already.
What part of Washington are y'all from, we're over in Spokane county.
Love them baldies....

If cows get that fat grazing them in the driveway in Washington, just think how fat they would be in a pasture. I need to move there.

Okay, here is my newbee question of the week.
How do you train a cow to be handled by a rope? Do you have to start just after birth? My cows (Red Brangus) are pretty skitish when it comes to ropes.

Great pic! :) :D

tx- nope. I've halter broke two different 5 y/o + cows, over a dozen calves, and an 800lb show steer. You can start at any age or size, just takes work and patience.
