Can anyone give me advise on summer itch. My poor horse scratches himself and bites himself. Will it stop with the colder weather. The previous owners forgot to tell me he has this condition. Thanks for any help.

Dexamethasone(sp), fly repelent, steroid injection(vetalog would be best). They make a fly sheet you can cover them with. Consult your vet.

Oh ya. Probly will. More of a fly irritant probly. I wouldn't put the horse through it though. He or she will be misserable. Good luck.

Give the horse a bath using iodine shampoo and should help a bunch.

Good Advice !!!

After bathing the horse, spray with a good fly repellant. We use one that lasts for about 14 days.

Also bathing with iodine shampoo helps a horse that gets hives from whatever thingy!
