No more questioning when it will get here. The 10 day forecast the high is in the 90's with a few upper 80's. The problem is that forecast is for Baker City. Their elevation is nearly 1,000 feet higher and they are closer to the mountains. So here you take Baker forecast and add 4 or 5 degrees. That makes the 10 days all in the 90's with some pushing 100. The only 2 saving graces are the humidity down to 20 during the day and temperature dropping into the upper 50's at night. My personal forecast is get out to do things by 5:30 AM and back in the house by the AC by 10:00 at the latest. The sun goes behind the hills at about 7:00. So I have a couple hours in the evening before dark. Still pretty warm but no direct sun shine.

Dry heat beats wet heat. Our 80%+ humidity the last few weeks is a killer. Out yesterday about all day and changed clothes three times and could wring water out.

Those high 90s you have are very hot, but beautiful country.

We had been in the mid to high 90's all week except yesterday. We had a cool front come through yesterday with a high of 75; it was kind of nice break from the heat. Unfortunately it didn't bring any rain. I'm kind of surprised it didn't, as I had hay down right now.

I have been raising the head gate on the champain ditch. I just went out and checked. I needed a couple more turns to get a full ditch. Neighbor went to put boards in the river for the other ditch. I ran up there to see if he needed a hand but he was already done. Just out there for about 30 minutes 90% of it on the quad. The thermometer on the deck says 98 degrees. 30 minutes is about 29 minutes too long.

The last couple days have not been bad here, but it is supposed to get into the high 90's today. I'm finding I don't deal as well with the heat as I used to. I'm just glad we have a dry heat here. I got my chance to deal with heat at Fort Jackson and Fort Gordon back in 89.

We've been having waves of summer mixed with waves of spring. Couple days of 90s then a couple days of 50s. Mother nature needs to get her head on straight long enough to get some hay made then it can go back to the roller coaster if it wants.

We had record highs last year. This year has been cool with all the rain. It's like 98 with a breeze. We are sitting under a shade tree bsing like it's spring.
Has been nice. Rarely would want to patch up some fence in July but it's what I've been doing lately. High 80s - low 90s, cloudy and breezy. Not bad. Did get into some chiggers last week. :(

Oh ya I'm tore up. Chiggers, ticks, every thing is bad this year.
I keep OFF in the truck to spray on our legs but forget some times.

Still cold here for the time of year. Wouldn't mind seeing a few more degrees to help dry down the hay. I don’t know what a chigger is so I guess we must not have them.

Be glad. You can't really see them. They get in the weeds and tall grass. They love getting in the weeds in cattle pens or under trees where you want to turkey hunt. They make a bunch of bites that itch like crazy, almost like getting poison ivy. Like ticks they go for the tender area under sock lines, waste bands, etc.

This time of the year, when it's wet, we have to hit the cattle pens with a herb/ pesticide combo just to be able to work in them.

Guess the fireants aren't hungry anymore. Chiggers mostly disappeared around here decades ago. Just in the past few years have I started to encounter them. Usually just on or two spots, but Friday and Saturday I've come up with about 8 spots. Hydrocortisone cream helps take the itch out for about 8 hours for me. I'm going to try mixing up a squirt bottle of permethrin to spray my pant legs before I got out next time.
