have a 10ft bush hog 3126 that 1 of the stump jumpers has stripped out. oem is $680 and can get a aftermarket for $223. that is a huge difference in price but worried about it also being huge difference in quality. or could come from same factory for all i know. what is yalls opinions?

Are you fixing it yourself? It seems what few times I have had a piece of machinery to a dealer for work they used aftermarket and charged about double/triple what I figured it was worth. The place you are getting the OEM from I would ask if it is a company part that is truly OEM and hopefully made in a country besides China. From my opinion in the long run good OEM is the way to go but sometimes you don't have a choice. There are some quality AM parts out there so to save $450 it might be worth a try. It is basically your call and hope for the best and expect the worst.

Another thing to consider is as hard as those are to put on you don't want to do it twice.

Can be tough to turn a bush hog 3126 double over and get everything loose. It is 90 out today here with high humidity and due point. My old azz would be soaked with sweat and worn out from the job. If the Bush hog is in good shape else where I would get an OEM if not China made.

When I say easy it's easier than say replacing a gear or bearing in a transmission that could take 10-12 of tear down to get too. That's when I pony up for OEM or equivalent.

A loader to flip the mower and it's apart and back together in a few hours.

And don't always assume OEM means better.

Bought a bearing from Agco last week for $142. In the box is an SKF bearing stamped China. Ordered a spare aftermarket Timken brand stamped USA for $53.

It's amazing how many times a cheaper part comes and it's in the same box, made in the same factory, as OEM. But you won't know until you get it, and it could be a part made in a Nigerian backwater by some 12 year old kid.

I couldn't agree more. I put a SKF bearing in my rear Honda CRV axle/hub about 6 months ago and I believe the dang thing is back roaring again. USA metal or almost any other country is usually better compared to China (I have had some usable China metal). That is why I would get OEM for metal but would be disappointed to see a China stump jumper that much higher. Now plastic you can kind of use China AM sometimes.

This is a decision the buyer has to make and sometimes you win and sometimes you lose. Here is a good debate, but up to the buyer to make the decision.
