what can i plant now to make straw in tennessee. can it be done this time of the year?
would like to have something by fall to turn under in the garden

I suppose you could plant some pearlmillet or something like that.

Along with buckwheat. Buckwheat is supposed to make phosphorous in the soil more available

I'd go with the buckwheat first. Its great for gardens and will really build the soil and make clay have more tilth.
