I have a stock tank that is completely useless. How do I go about filling it up? I don't want to just fill it and have a cow just sink in when it rains. Any input would be apreciated.

He got with the county and when they cleaned out the ditches they would haul the dirt and dump it by his gate. He piss-anted it with a front end loaded over about a year till he got it filled.

Why not Put a liner in it and start using it. You can use old swimming pool liners, or fish pond liners. They're cheap. May have to put some sand in the bottom if its metal.

I can get dirt and crap like tree trunks etc, to fill it up but would I have to block it off from the cows till it gets solid on top.
Kingfisher i would rather get rid of it when it fills, water get rank quik. Bentonite, ain't that kitty litter. Not a bad idea if I put a bunch of tidy cat in it all the cats from the neiborhood will come poo in it, eventually they will fill it. jk

Use busted out cement and brick ,in Okla. that is easy to find after the storm season,fill it to where you can still put 2 or 3 foot of dirt on it . It will settle some and you may have to add dirt latter . Do not use construction trash ,wood and ect, EPA will be on you if they find it but not for the rock. Shingles will work fairly well ,not like the rock, but dont let the EPA find them either they will rot over the years and need more dirt.
