Decent steer. Get that hair cleaned and worked and you just might have somethin. Is that steer for a county show or a major show? How much does he weigh and when do you need him finished for?
 
Good Steer! Stands nice and wide on his rear legs. Level topline, good length and extension. Smooth in his shoulded. Looks to be a little pinched in the heart.

jay, he went to a county show, slick shear, and did very well. I was just wondering if he was good enough for a major show because we have a chance at a full brother and would like to take him to a major if he's good enough.

b-herefords, thanks for the offer! Do you show heifers or steers?

I agree. A very nice county steer but I'm not sure if he can hold is ground at a major. Got any pictures of the full brother?
 
The good thing is that even in shows where they lump most breeds into the American or Exotic class, down here in Texas, the Angus, Hereford, Polled Hereford, and one other breed still always get their own breed breakdowns.

That's what I was thinking. They're bigger and beefier looking, to me. Shown slick, I don't think he'll look quite as massive as they do out here.

Nope, some of the herfs they were classing down in Austin this week were super thick and beefy.

Thanks again everyone! I would really like him to be cleaner in the front, more of that club calf look mentioned, but as for the bigger and beefier, I'm not defending him, but he's only a March calf and the picture was taken in Feb and he weighed 1185. Maybe he would have beefed up more with time? Like the fall born calves going to the spring shows? I guess if we want to try a major show we'll have to look at some older calves and maybe just use the brother (no picture, he's just a baby so a lot can change anyway I'm just thinking ahead) for the county again. Sorry for the rambling, just thinking out loud.

That steer could of won are whole county show, but with alot of grippin' cause i won the whole show with herefords heifer and they are still grippin' bout it :roll:
