I was wondering if I could get your help on choosing a steer to show this coming year. Here is the website to the auction that my FFA chapter goes to.

Tell me what you think and which ones you like and think will do well. Thanks, Lauren :D

I think that he is decent as well. I was actually just looking at him. They just posted these, so I am going through them as well. This will only be my second year showing, so I need alittle help picking one out, though since it is an auction, the one I choose, may not be the one I end up with. Thank!

Ok as you know we are new to picking show stuff.
I like the 150 mainX, 740 mainX, 472 mainX, 167 limosinX . In that order. I like the 150 because he reminds me of our steer when we got him. Do you show with hair? If so you would want one with hair to start with.
Im sure the more experience people can tell you want to look for when picking a steer. So I want go their.

If you can't buy one of your top 3 choices I wouldn't buy anything at this sale. There is only 3 that I see that has a chance of winning in any kind of competion.

I agree with La and the others on this one. I'd prolly keep looking...especially since it's an auction and you're not guaranteed to get any of the calves you want.

530 is the only one I would consider. Looks like the best hip, bone and hair, even though it is red it will grow back black.

I like the #71 and # 98 steers. The problem I have had in the past with the limousin x is they have to much frame and not enough gut to be real competitive in the show ring. And also dont have the hair as alot of the maine x ,and shorthirn x have.

I know that the pictures aren't much, they weren't last year either. At the auction they are alot better and they are competitive in my area. La, which 3 do you like and in what order?

its a bit hard to pick at this age ,also depends on what you are looking for in the us.but here in aus i would go for 071,530,98,524 but depends on what you want them for and how long you have to get them ready. good luck

The quality of the pics is not great, but I really did not see any winners in the group. There are some that may turn out to be solid calves for the field - but nothing rings my chimes and certainly I did not see any I would recommend.

If I was you - on a personal level - I would look further afield.

Bez!

ccc, if you click on the picture, it gives you a full body pic. I appreciate your help everyone.
