I finished the first cut on Sunday. Wound up with a 5 and 4 record - 5 that I managed to run/carry off and 4 thru the discbine. First year I've ever had a positive average.

Why are those bales so narrow? I saw the same size up in South Carolina a few weeks ago and was wondering if this is the new standard size or if they are that size so two will fit side by side on a flat bed trailer. :?:

I use a 4' wide bale because they fit on a gooseneck two wide and doesn't raise brows from the police. A 5' wide would be more convenient for feeding and stacking but we haul a lot of hay a good ways on the public roads. I've hauled 5's two wide, you can't see around them at all even with good mirrors and it attracts attention. The less attention I get, the happier I am. Plus I can double stack the top rows with the 4' wides, wouldn't want to try that with the 5's.
