I was in Baker and had stop at the post office, When came out Patty was wanting out of the truck very bad, She had seen a squirrel. It took me 5 or 6 tries to get into the truck without her escaping. When I got in she was plastered to the back window. As we drove around the block she just kept staring out the window at that squirrel. She is not a town dog and used to traffic so getting out is a bad idea. She likes where we live but there just aren't any squirrels.

Somebody in town would probably be happy to live trap a few for you to release in your yard.

Probably 30 years I had a young Brittany dog, He rode with me in the truck one day we were down in the field driving to check cattle, He saw a squirrel running towards a tree and he plopped out the window. He hit hard, he layed there for a few seconds I reckon it knocked the wind out of him for a bit then he thrashed around and jumped up and took off in the direction of the squirrel.
On the subject of squirrels, the only kind I see here on the farm and occasionally in the yard are the bigger red squirrels , but in town just few miles away all I’ve seen are the small grey ones.
There’s a state park with restaurant and lodge about 35 miles from here. We were eating there one evening must have been in the winter time as it was already dark.
They have a walkway built up to get to the lodge rooms and a big windows facing that from the restaurant. They have several bird feeders spaced out over hanging from the handrails. We got go quite a show that night watching flying squirrels jumping from the feeders to the trees and back an forth.

"Patty" is your dog... right?

But the mental image I got at first was a lot more interesting.

I hate em ! I have 6 big pecan trees in the edge of my yard . They were loaded this year . On the opposite side of my yard I have about 20 acres of woods that run the length of my driveway and yard . I have killed 19 this fall so far . 19 that I know I’ve killed and a couple more I shot but got away . No , we don’t eat them, but my wife’s cats do . Have seen one more this week ; early one morning. You don’t poke the bear and you don’t shoot too early and wake the wife up . 😁

Patty rides all over on the back of my quad. We will be doing 20 mph going down the road and she sees quail, or pheasant, or turkey, or deer, or rabbit (fill in the blank) she bails and hits the ground running leaving me in her dust. If I am taking the quad she is going with me. She often sits on the quad hoping we will go somewhere.

Our little fat blue Heeler Jip loves to ride in truck. She likes going through the drive through at the bank, they send her 2 or 3 dog biscuits out. She doesn’t understand when other drivers throughs don’t hand her something.
She also doesn’t like windshield wipers.
