Finally got some pics of the ones I'm keeping this year. And they suck! Don't judge. It's simply not possible to take a decent pic of these girls unless they're otherwise occupied or they're IN MY FACE. So, there's a lot of unflattering tongue-out and mouth-open pics. That said, I'm really excited about this group and looking forward to February when they get pelvic measured to make sure they made the cut.IMG_20241216_154910916.jpg
Slinky. Her dam is Spring and I kept her sister, Sparrow last year.

Teeter. Her dam is Pipsqueak (Squeaker), a 40 lb. preemie/subsequent orphan who is due with her 13th calf in March. I've kept all her heifers.

Delta. Her dam was Boeing, the one that got struck by lightning this year. She was only 5 and this was her only heifer.

Leia. Her dam is Princess, currently 5 and this is her first heifer. And she's a brick house!

Pickles. Dam is Piper, sisters are Pepper and Peck.

Sparky. Dam is Spunky and this is her 2nd calf. Sparky broke her leg when she was a few days old but healed so well, I can't even tell which one (I'd seriously have to go back and look at my notes).

Lego. Dam is Lily and this is the first heifer she's given me. She's super tall!

I feel the pain about not being able to take good pics because they're running after you!

This is my friend's calf that I tamed, perhaps a little too well... She's a total sweetie. Brown one behind her is a bred heifer of mine

Says "page not found" when I clicked on the link. But I think I know which one you're referring to. Not surprising, you tamed one a little too well!;)

How do you keep up with names? I do good keeping up with numbers when they have numbered tags, although i can tell you whos dam goes to what heifer and where they come from without notes. Lol

There's generally a theme within the lineage but sometimes it varies. I reuse names if I don't retain the heifers or if they have a bull calf. For example: Tator Tot (Tator, a 40 lb preemie that is now almost 11) had Spud, Tootsie, Trixie and TJ that I retained. Spud had Spunky, Ore Ida and Russet. Spunky had Sparky, Ore Ida had Idaho. It's complicated! But easier for me to remember the names.:ROFLMAO:

Between the Bull and Heifer names, you are killing me.

You've got some nice ones there! We had a nice little balck baldy heifer show up yesterday morning after the storm, Cow is what appears to be an angus with some holstein cross that came to us about 4 years ago in a little bunch we bought. This is her 3rd calf with us I believe, they've all been pretty nice. This one is by our Sim Angus bull I've mentioned in some other posts

Heifers got pelvic measured (and BANGS and magnets) this week and once again, big girls with big butts don't necessarily mean big pelvic measurements. Keeping in mind they were only 11 months old. Delta is the finest boned, smallest frame of the group and she scored the highest at 196, even considering she was orphaned. But she comes by it honestly because her dam was something ridiculously huge, like 236, and spit out her first calf within 20 minutes of hard labor. Lego, who is by far the largest heifer, was 169. Teeter, Slinky, Pickles and Sparky measured 182 and Leia 162. All of them should have no problems calving 75+ lbs. unassisted.

Had every intention of updated pics, specifically so you could see them lined up at the bunks and compare butts. But life, time and shytty weather . . . . Sorry, but ain't no way I'm pulling off my gloves when it's rotten cold & wet just to snap a couple pics. But later, I'm on it!
