We have been burnt up real bad out in this country. Hay is very spendy. We are Severe to extreme around here. They must go off of average rainfall to judge a drought cause i would bet Alabama has had more rain than us this year. We are used to less though.

Have no idea where you are but I'm in a 25" deficit so far this year plus 21" at the end of last year.

Thats a whole years worth of rain that I haven't gotten in the past year.

Maybe; but you also have forages that are adapted to that climate. We have forages and soil types that are all adapted to 50-65 inches of rain a year. There is no cactus around here or anything else that has stayed green and growing this year here.

I took a trip to Georgia to visit my new grandchild last month. It was really dry in Miss., Ala., and Ga. It kind of makes me fell guilty with all of the rain we have been getting here. I'm all caught up on hay for the year and still have more to bail. I really feel for you guys and praying ya'll get somr rain soon. :) :)

I agree with Mr. Paul. It was so dry around here the last 2 years but we're really making up for it this year with almost to much rain. Wish we could share some of ours with you. Cowboy up and keep praying!!! ;-) ;-) ;-)

Here in east central Alabama we are dry, dry, dry.

6 weeks ago I had a costal bermuda mix grass field that I hit with liquid nitrogen and grazon. Got about 2-3 inches of rain, and grass started to grow some. This week, I turned the cows in on it because we have not had rain in 3 weeks. This along with temps around 100 for the last two weeks, the grass has stopped growing and turning brown. Heck, it's greener than the other fields.

You can hear the grass crunch when you walk on it.
