We spayed a little over 300 heifers last spring. These were feeder heifers that were going to take a trip to the feedlot in August. Pretty easy to guarantee them open once they are spayed. We did it in 6 hours so 50 per hour. It cost us $6 per heifer. But with that many to do the vet made pretty good coin that day. It did work out good for us. Finding a vet to do it can be an issue. Also doing lower numbers will certainly raise the price per head.
In the big pasture where these heifers spent the summer there several neighbor bulls just on the other side of the fence. No issues. They were also with an equal number of steers. I never noticed any steers riding the heifers. Also later in the summer B needed a place to put a couple dozen young Waygu bulls. They went into that pasture. Everyone just seemed content to eat grass.
