With the faster internet connection, the spam is coming even faster. Does anyone have a good email anti-spam program they can recommend? Thanks....

Now back to topic.
It's a pain but the best way to get rid of your problem is change your e-mail address.
Then get a couple of the free web based e-mail accounts and use those for joining newsletters, forums, etc. Or for those you already belong to change your e-address to one of the free accounts you've created. Give your regular address to only to those you trust.
If you use Outlook Express you can go to "Tools" on the command bar at the top then "message rule" and "mail". But you won't be able to make enough rules to completely eliminate it. Never,never open, or try to unsubscribe. If you do you validate your address. Just delete it.
As far as third party software I can't help you. By doing the above I haven't needed to purchase anything else. Hope this helps

We got some rain; not a lot. I think 7/10s was in the gague last time I looked. We're greatful for every drop, believe me.

I don't think it has anything to do with giving out your email address. Within a few hours of establishing this new account, we were getting spams. I know we'll never get rid of them all, but it has steadly gotten worse. The computer has Nortons on it with some sort of spam guard but when we tried to activate it, the computer locked up. So we'll have to spend some time with that. I have a YAHOO account and they do a good job with Spams there. I'll check out the Express stuff, too. Thank you.

thats what i use and i like it because you can turn it on and off and adjust the settings.

the google pop up blocker is very good - just remember to un-do it if you need something to pop up (can do it for just that one site)

I use yahoo for my general email and it does a great job of blocking spam - but I do have to check the blocked email, as once in a while it blocks something that I want

dump norton - get it off your machine

avg is a very good FREE virus protection

also get adaware and spybot. also free. Update regularly and RUN THEM.

my internet server has a pretty good spam filter. I use a one of the smaller companies owned by Nationwide.

i wouldn't use spybot. I had it once and had all kinds of problems. Took my computer to a tech, and he took it off immediatly. It may work for others, but I don't trust it.

Spybot Search and Destroy? I haven't ever heard of anybody having problems with it? What was happening? Removing stuff you didn't want it to?

It does not remove things from Firefox, I did learn that, but the advantages of Firefox over Internet Exploder are worth it.

Were you running Norton too? THAT may have been the real problem.

Norton nothing but trouble, blocked the computer and froze, had to reboot several times, got rid of it. spyware nothing but trouble and kept asking me to try other products. got McAfee and secure ie and not had a single pop up or spam since. it can be unlocked if you want it to but I never have. I check spam folder once in a while but never anything on there I want.
