sometimes you get lucky.

Sometimes you get lucky and get a one and done that was bred very well. This old girl did so good with it that I put her in the herd to go another round. She doesn't have much left in the teeth department but holds her condition well even with a big calf.

Your bull? Or was she bred when you got her? If so, do you know what she was bred to? And you are right..she is in good condition for her age and her dental state. Looks like you have plenty of good grass, @bird dog

From my records --I bought her in October 3 2024 $1.03 lb. 950 lbs so $978.50. Bred 5 months. To what, I don't know. Brangus??
Teeth were very short with some missing. A true broke mouth. I wormed her, gave some vacs and multi-min.
Vet was accurate as she calved on Feb, 26.

She was somewhat thin and spooky but calmed down and put on weight with the spring green up. She has a good udder and is a good mother like most of the horned cows seem to be. She has been with my bull since mid May and needs to be preg checked.

Yeah we are having a good grass year and why I kept five or six cows out of last years one and done's. That plus this years one and done's are around $2000. And there is not very many available. If I had more land and another bull, I would be buying open mid age cows that weigh 1000 to 1200lbs.
