What is it? See below the photo.........

This statue currently stands outside the Iraqi palace,
now home to the 4th Infantry division.
It will eventually be shipped home
and put in the memorial museum in Fort Hood, Texas.

The statue was created by an Iraqi artist named Kalat,
who for years was forced by Saddam Hussein to make the many hundreds of bronze busts of Saddam that dotted Baghdad.

Kalat was so grateful for the Americans liberation of his country;
he melted 3 of the heads of the fallen Saddam
and made the statue as a memorial to the American soldiers
and their fallen warriors.
Kalat worked on this memorial night and day for several months.

To the left of the kneeling soldier is a small Iraqi girl giving the soldier comfort as he mourns the loss of his comrade in arms.

Do you know why we don't hear about this in the news?
Because it is heart warming and praise worthy.
The media avoids it because it does not have the shock effect
that a flashed breast or controversy of politics does.

I had seen it quiet a quite back, but didn't know about the melting of the heads and making the statue out of them.

Thanks for posting it, Cert.

If more of those kinds of things were reported by the media our military men and women would feel less forgotten. Take it from a Viet Nam Vet who knows.

Mahoney, my dad's a vietnam vet, and something that he and you probably don't hear enough: thank you!

No soldier should ever be forgotten, whether they fought in battle or not, they volunteered to give their lives for this country. They are heros. The media would love to see America lose the war, just so they could sit there and say "Told ya so". The fact that it is actually successful just tears them up.

Thank you to all the soldiers and veterans out there. You are the reason that America is the great country that it is.

As much as I would give my right thumb for an accurate and fair media... I'm not so fargone that I prefer fiction over fact as a result.

No, Sheri, I did not miss your post. I was thanking Mahoney Pursley Ranch for serving in Vietnam. I really don't see a correlation between the two. I feel that anyone who serves in our military deserves to be thanked.
