Well I haven't posted on here in a long time, I still get on and lurk quite often though. Hope everyone had a good Christmas!
Our cows have been out on swath grazing since the beginning of November. Today & tomorrow we will be moving them home where they will swath graze for hopefully another month and then have a couple weeks of corn grazing before we have to start feeding. The mild winter sure has been nice for the animals - and the people!

Right now half the cows are at one place & half at another - today we will walk both groups to another field (3 miles for one group & 2 for the other), they will spend the night and then walk the 4 1/2 miles home tomorrow. Depending how cold it is, I might take the camera and try to get some pictures while we walk them home....don't feel too bad out there just walking, but might be a bit chilly on the fingers while on the quad.

Thanks for the comments - they are definitely in good shape this winter. Aaron, your picture made me LOL   Thank you! The big move yesterday went as perfect as it possibly could. Two hours exactly from the time the first cow was out the gate to the time the last one was in the gate at the other end. And not a single cow even thought twice about crossing the highway (there's usually always one that has second thoughts about walking on the pavement). I should've taken my camera, but I was being a wuss and decided against the cold fingers... I did manage to take a couple quick cell phone pictures.

Impossible to get them all in a picture. That's probably about a 1/3 of the group in the last picture. After we cross the highway we let them all set their own pace. They stretched out nearly a mile long at one point. Really should've taken my camera...still kicking myself.

Meant to share this one the other day too - replacement heifers & the dog.
