A few prospective buyers have been asking for some pictures lately of the bulls, but the weather has made it kinda hard. These aren't the best pictures, no clipping, no blowing no fluffing, just the way they are in the snow mud and fog. Let me know what you think. Most of these will go into commercial cowherds. I may keep a couple for my own use as they feed efficiency tested very well.

Thanks George, that is him. I think he will play a role in my program. He converted 5.59 versus a 6.71 average on the group and was high on the RFI figure too. Considering his mother was sound at 16 he has some good things to offer.

George, you have a good memory. The 956 calf looks very good, just didn't get a picture of him.

I remember because he was a M326 calf - and I don't generally like M326 bull calves because they tend to be a little sway-backed and carry too much leather in front, but I really liked 956.

You forgot light boned and overly straight shouldered. Good looking group Brian

have you seen the Ned and Jan ward bull by M326 George? He's M326 on P606 (sry not trying to hijack the thread)

That would be the same cross as my 956 bull too. M326 out of a moderate 1200 lb P606 cow.

I probably have had about 50 M326 calves born on my place. They have done well for me. They crossed very well with my Mackintosh and Liberty lines. The 922 bull on the far right of the 2nd to last pictures is also a M326 son. Very easy fleshing cattle

Strong group of bulls, 953 keeps catching my eye, what's his breeding. Do you perhaps have a better pic of him?

No doubt M326 has some very good qualities. I hadn't seen the Ward calf until I looked him up after your post, Baldie Maker. The picture of him in the AI flyer looks good. He doesn't appear to have the leather that most sons do. From Knersie's input here and learning about its practical usefulness, I'm trying to learn to like a little more flap - and my Star Lake bull is putting more brisket and flap on his calves than I've been used to getting in my herd. I'm still struggling with liking that, but it also appears his calves are going to be easier fleshing and hold their condition well through the winter. The jury won't be in on him until after his first daughters calve next year.

It looks like the trend in the showring is to try to get them more and more choke fronted - and I think they are taking it to the extreme now. Some of these show heifers are starting to have front ends like dairy breeds and a lot of the masculinity has been bred out of the bull calves to where they don't start looking like bulls until they are yearlings.

Kevin Schultz has a M326 son selling in his Sandhill Farms sale that there's a lot of talk about. But he definitely has both faults that I am critical of in M326 progeny.

But, like M326, there's still a lot there to like after you criticize the faults.

For my own use, I'd prefer Brian's P606 son.

His sway back is negligible in my opinion, I like his type very much, just hope he matures into a better looking bull than his half brother, Rib EYe.

He is out of a son of Legend 242. CMR TF Garrett 430 and out of a M326 daughter. He would make a pretty good heifer bull with his 76 lb birthweight.

A picture of him from this afternoon.

Brian still planning on heading to your place this spring-your calves look good.

Come on down anytime. Hopefully this mud will be dried up a little by then.

Thank you George, I take that as a pretty nice compliment. My bull hasn't quite had the inputs in him that the Ward bull has had. He loooks fit up pretty well in the photo. I haven't totally made up my mind on my M326 son or the P606 son to use in my own herd. Maybe I should use them both and not AI so much this year.

0956 bull. These two bulls are probably closer than what the pictures show.

I tend to disagree on the weak top thing on the M326 calves as it hasn't shown up in my herd anyway.
They do tend to carry a little extra leather though.
Here are a couple more pictures

They are both M326 sons out of Liberty daughters who had high feed coversion and good RFi and top gainers too.
But if you want a choke front bull to produce show calves use this bull

A Reload out of the Gerber Dixie cow from a couple empryos I bought a few years ago.

That W18 calf is a heck of a calf, I didn't think that he was either light boned, or sway backed when I saw him a month or so ago.

The calves look good, we are awfully muddy as well, can't wait for some dry off.

As I scrolled down through the pics and reached the last one, I said, "dang a M326 with a frontend and shoulder I like" then scrolled down a little farther, Reload, oh well. Really like the butt on that 922 calf.
