I stopped at a Buc-ees yesterday and looked at some offset smokers they had outside. Old Country brand. Looked to be heavy enough built, I'm guessing 10ga steel about like Oklahoma Joes. Buc-ees is known for hi prices but I thought $549 was not a bad deal. I think it may be close to OC's Brazos model. Anyone have experience with this brand or model?

Buy one and come over we can try it out.

I've looked at the smokers at buc-cees and they look good for the money. Smokers have gotten really high over the past 5 years. 4-5k seems the norm for one of the really heavy ones.

Guess that’s what happens, nobody burns fuel oil anymore. Those tanks make a dandy smoker.

Way out of my league. And at my age, 'lasts a lifetime' don't mean what it once did.

I built one around 1979 out of scrap oilfield conductor pipe. It was heavy as hello so I left it at the farm when we moved in 2022. Had a friend that had one made out of a really old and rusty butane tank, but every time i ate any of his BBQ it still had that faint butane smell to it.

So do propane tanks and i cut into 2 of them for different projects, but that first torch cut you make as you press the oxy lever always tights your sphincter a little...

That would be a good place for one. I traveled to Little Rock from East Texas via North to Texarkana then East on I-30 quite a bit 2015-2017 so I'm pretty familiar with the area.

My uncle bought loads of tanks and did the same. He was pretty crude with anything he did, we figured he'd blow himself to bits before it was over. Cancer got him first though. He sold them as culverts, welding 3 or more end to end, they're a lifetime investment.
