slow response time on boards??

is anyone else having trouble accessing the boards... it is an on and off thing.. they are working fine for a little while and then it will take about 3 minutes to get into a board. after a little while, then they go back to normal :?: :?:

just wondering if i am the only one having this trouble.. has been going on for 2-3 days now.

I haven't had any problems, but I'm on a strait T-1 connection. Are you on dial-up or high speed? Could be the number of posters on the board at that specific time?

i am on a fast connection, but i dont know enough about it to talk about it... i dont have to dial a number to get online. and i have not ever had this type problem before.. so i was just wondering.

Do you have a personal firewall on your computer, virus protection, adaware and spyware protection? All of there problems can cause your computer to have a slow internet connection, or completey render your computer useless in worst case senarios (been there, done that) PM me and I will try to help out any way I can.

all of em... this is crazy... from the time i answered sidney's first response until now i have been out of commission... i was wrong... it is a lot longer than 3 minutes too.

it is working fine now...

yes, sidney411 i have all that stuff... i checked around here in the office and some others are having a little trouble too. so maybe it is our connection. but it is not effecting all internet connections, just some of them :roll: :?:

and since i am such a computer wiz :lol2: :shock: oh well.. i wont go there...

maybe it will get better soon...

I've periodially had the same problem. I checked with my ISP and there are apparently T1 problems. Problem seems to come and go. But when I'm having trouble with these boards, Yahoo and some of the other sigtes are just as slow.

JT, your computer needs to be defrag (cleaning). You probably had stored a lot of files into your computer. The defragmentation will cleanse the hard drive in your computer. You may have an spyware virus in your computer as well.... Most spyware virus can be caught easy, however one or two virus do slip by.. Theres been a bad spyware problems in the past three/four months... Goodluck to you!

I agree its probably your computer. I usually do a System Restore on my computer. Mine gets slow about after a week, the posts on here take along time to load. And I am also on highspeed cable modem.

Baseballfan - I'm sorry to tell you but you are wrong. Yes, his computer could probably use a good defrag, BUT defraging DOES NOT clean up your hard drive. All it does is move the file bits into contigous (sp) clusters therefore optimizing the access time it takes to access the program and/or files. Also, spyware and viruses are not necessarily caught easily unless you update your definition files automatically. New viruses and adaware/spyware come out almost hourly. There has been a bad virus and spyware problem for a LOT longer then a few months, try years, and it is only going to get worse.

I know what I talking about here, I deal with this stuff on a daily basis. Crud like this viruses, spam, and spyware take up way more of my time then most people realize.

Sidney, I think I can pretty well hold my own with you as far as cattle are concerned, and probably a few other things as well. But when you go to talking this high-tech computer stuff you blow my mind. You are giving me an inferiority complex.

Those are the one's I generally use too Macon, unless I know the computer is infected with a specific program or virus, then I will go in for a more direct approach.

Sorry to confuse anyone, I am used to talking this way and it is hard for me to remember that most people have no clue what I am saying, I get a dazed and confused look when I talk to everyone most of the time.

I use Spybot S&D and Adaware. Be cautious as to which spybot you get though cause there is one called Spybot out there that adds spyware. I have Spybot S&D version 1.2 .I also got a Windows update the other day, a "malicious software removal tool" and I be gol durned ifen I know where that program is or how to use it....? Anybody know anything about it is it like running in the background or what ? Sometimes Bill Gates worries me... :shock:
