I was wondering if anyone could help out with a curiosity that I've been seeing in my yearling and his pasture mate.

About 2-3 weeks ago I noticed my 1 1/2 year old gelding had white, pasty looking spit around his lips. About a week later his pasture mate had the same stuff. They eat the same hay as the rest of the horses on the property, they have a salt block as others do but they do get two different kinds of feed. The spit does not smell bad and is there all of the time, i.e., doesn't show up when they eat or drink. only. My horse has shown no other changes in behavior or health since this has occurred. I don't want to disregard this but don't know if it's time to call the vet out yet or not. Does anyone have any thoughts?
