Slipped Calf?

Our hereford (this would be first calf) was confirmed preg last fall, due date of 5/16. This past weekend husband saw 2 different yearling heifers jump her...she didn't stand. Now she is THE MOST shy and quiet animal on the place, wondering if she was jumped cuz they could or if she slipped. Have not seen any signs prior to this. I did record the dates so I can have hubby watch her again in 3 to 3 1/2 weeks.

Any thoughts?

We used to have an Angus cow who showed heat during pregnancy, and it may have been the heifers that were in heat. Is she running with a bull now? When in doubt, write it on the calendar and watch her in 18 days.

Nope no bull. I was thinking it was yearling(s) in heat too. But then to have 2 diff yearlings jump same (hopefully) bred animal, it makes you worry.

Just before I logged on to the computer I saw one of our cows jump on another one. They are both bred and the vet said they aren't due until next month. I would be worried, but last year I saw the same thing happen a few times and was wondering about it too. Since the vet had been out to preg. check all the cows in November, and they were supposed to be bred, why would they be jumping? They all calved fine and hopefully this year they will all calve too. Could be someone is getting close, like Dun said, and they smell funny. Maybe we'll have an early calf.

This morning I saw a yearling steer try to mount his dam who is due next week, also have a yearling heifer that is comming in and is mounting steers.
There's more lip curling going on around here than on prom night. Wouldn't worry about your cow. Could bounce her right side behind the ribs when she has a hungry rumen. Mighn't be able to get a kick out of the calf...just a thought.

In our herd, the 7 1/2 to 81/2 month pregnant cows seem to be the best GOMER bulls on the place. Dun is right, they get hormonal and are usually in the cluster when somebody's in heat. Would assume all is well at this point.

Could bounce her right side behind the ribs when she has a hungry rumen. Mighn't be able to get a kick out of the calf...just a thought.

Bounce :???: We call it "Bump"

Make a fist and put it on her just behind the ribs and shove it in and hold it there as far as you can - - You will push the calf over and feel it when it come back

I'm pretty sure she is still with calf, she has started bagging up, saw her yesterday. Can't put through the chute at the moment, as they are in a temp pasture til the ground toughens up a bit after all the snow melting and rain. Hopefully another week or so, then the two hefiers will be put in the corral. Due dates are 5/9 and 5/16. Thanks everyone!

It's been 3 years since I've had cattle having calves, and with only 2 to drop I am a worry wart!

What do you all think of this, the Pinz that is to calve on 5/9, started bagging up about a week ago, now her I can walk up to in the field, I bumped her last weekend, at least tried to, and there is no movement, solid, I thought man, this calf is slammed up to her side. She does have twins on her side, she was not a twin, but her momma was, hence her name "Twinkie", named before I bought her.
